In just two weeks, every major AI platform vendor — Microsoft, AWS, Anthropic, and OpenAI — has made the same bold strategic bet: the next bottleneck in enterprise AI isn't the model, it's the engineering workforce needed to deploy it. On July 2, Microsoft announced the Microsoft Frontier Company , a new operating unit that will embed 6,000 industry and engineering experts inside customer organizations to design, deploy, and run AI systems.
